Established during 1996 by the Asea Brown Boveri Limited, Bangalore, has instituted a Professorial Chair called “ABB Chair” at the Institute in the area of High Voltage Engineering, Power Systems and Power Electronics with an original corpus of `20.0 lakhs.  Currently, the Chair carries with it an allowance of `15,000/- p.m. (fixed) in addition to pay plus allowances and a provision of  `100,000/- p.a towards contingency expenses.  The Chair is for a period of 3 years from the date of award or upto superannuation, whichever is earlier.  Nominations of Professors from the Division of Electrical Sciences are considered for this award.

HAL Chair

 M/s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangaluru has endowed a full time resident chair professorship, which is called “HAL Chair” at IISc to promote research, development and academic work in new and emerging in aerospace technologies.  This chair will be awarded to a distinguished academician of the rank of Professor in the department of Aerospace Engineering who is conducting research in various areas related to aerospace technologies, providing technical consultancy, facilitating training programs and addressing any other mutually agreed activities relevant to the aerospace industry.

The resident chair carries a monthly honorarium of Rs.15,000/- in addition to pay plus allowances and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 1,00,000/- for a period of 3 years from the date of award, or up to the superannuation whichever is earlier.
